Stag Do Activities in Hertfordshire, Surrey and Sussex

Organising a stag do is mostly an exercise in constraint management. Someone is unfit, someone is skint, someone has to drive, and at least one person will book their train for the wrong day. The activity has to survive all of that.

The rules that make a stag activity work

• Morning or early afternoon. Anything booked after four o'clock is a gamble on the group's condition.
• No fitness requirement. The stag's uncle is coming. So is the mate who has not run since school.
• Competitive, with a forfeit. Blokes who do not know each other bond over a scoreboard faster than over anything else.
• Under two hours. Long enough to matter, short enough that the day still has shape afterwards.
• Photogenic. Half the value of a stag activity is the photos.

What works around here

Target shooting

Airsoft ranges, clay pigeon, archery. Competitive, level, and it works at eleven in the morning in a way that go-karting somehow does not. A mobile range will come to a house, a garden, a village hall or the field behind the pub, so you are not organising transport for twelve people.

Go-karting

Reliable and always fun, but it is a venue trip, and prices in the Home Counties have climbed.

Golf, including the pitch-and-putt kind

Good if the group can actually play. Miserable if half of them cannot.

Axe throwing

Excellent for the same reasons as shooting. Indoor venues mostly, so it is weather-proof.

What to think twice about

Anything involving significant physical exertion, anything that takes four hours, and anything where the group is split across separate vehicles for an hour each way.

We are based in Hertfordshire and cover Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Essex, Cambridgeshire, Surrey, Sussex, London and the Home Counties at standard rates, so we can be at a house in Guildford, a farm in Sussex or a garden in St Albans without it becoming a travel-cost conversation. For bigger or multi-day events we travel nationwide.

What it costs

Our events and parties start at £250, all-inclusive — the range, every replica, ammunition, eye protection, targets and trained marshals. No extras added on the day.

For a stag group we would normally suggest running it as a scored knockout down to a final pair, with the stag entering under some kind of handicap. That takes about two minutes per person, so a group of twelve cycles through comfortably inside the session.

One practical note

Our marshals will not put a replica in the hands of anyone who has clearly been drinking. That is not us being difficult — it is what our insurance and our risk assessment require, and frankly it is why the activity is safe. Book it for the morning and it is a non-issue.
