If you have landed here you are almost certainly trying to work out one thing: what does this actually cost? Most suppliers make you fill in a form to find out. We would rather just tell you, and then explain what changes the number.

The short answer

Across the UK, hiring a mobile airsoft range currently sits somewhere between about £240 and £550 depending on how long you need it and how many people are shooting.

Our events and parties start at £250 — and that is the same starting point whether it is a birthday in a garden, a corporate away day, a village fete or a three-day military show. What moves it up from there is set out below.

There is also a second model that a lot of larger public events prefer, covered further down.

What should be included

Compare quotes carefully, because "range hire" means very different things to different suppliers. A complete price should cover the range structure itself, every replica, all the ammunition, eye protection for every participant, the targets, the safety netting and barriers, and the trained marshals to run it. If any of those are extras, the headline price is not the price.

You should also get, without asking twice, a copy of the supplier's public liability insurance certificate and a written risk assessment for your specific event. We send both out with every quote as standard.

What moves the price

How long you need us

A two-hour garden party and a three-day military show are different jobs. Multi-day bookings are almost always cheaper per day than a single day, because the setup and breakdown only happen once.

Travel

We are based in Hertfordshire and cover Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Essex, Cambridgeshire, London and the Home Counties at our standard rates. Beyond that there is a travel contribution. Send your venue postcode with your enquiry and we will build it into the quote rather than adding it later.

Throughput

A range running one shooter at a time and a range running three are different rates, because the second needs more marshals. For a birthday party one lane is plenty. For a show with heavy footfall, more lanes means a shorter queue.

The pay-per-go alternative

For big public events, many organisers prefer not to pay a day rate at all. Instead you charge us a pitch fee and visitors pay us directly at the range. Our published rates are £5 for 20 rifle shots, £10 for 50, £5 for a pistol magazine and £5 for 12 revolver shots.

This shifts the risk onto us rather than you, which is usually the right way round when footfall is uncertain. It works less well for ticketed events where guests expect everything to be included.

Questions worth asking any supplier

  • What is your public liability cover, and can I see the certificate?
  • Will you produce a risk assessment for my venue specifically?
  • What is the minimum age, and what is the marshal-to-participant ratio?
  • How much flat ground do you need, and do you need power?
  • What happens if it rains?

Ours, for the record: £2 million; yes, for every event; six and up with a marshal per participant; 10m × 4m of flat ground and no power at all; and the range is fully enclosed and weather-resistant, so light rain and moderate wind do not stop us.
